Now in Development — Suns of the Abyss

We Build Worlds.
We Give Back.

Root Motion Studios is a tiny game development studio crafting immersive, exploration-driven games with real-world impact.

Our debut title is a first-person underwater adventure where you get to see the world from the points of view of a set of quirky marine creatures, all possessing their own senses.

We Craft Worlds With Purpose.
We Engage Players to Care.

What We Stand For

Games with Causes

Every Root Motion game is built around something we believe is worth caring about, whether that's the ocean depths, the animal kingdom, the human mind and its particular struggles and intricacies...and cows. We love cows. We make games about the topics that genuinely excite us and make us want to be better as people and developers. And because a portion of every sale goes directly to causes related to each game, playing with us means putting something back into the world you're living in.

Weird, Wonderful, and Wilfully Different

We don't do generic. Root Motion games are a little quirky, occasionally bizarre, and always designed to surprise you. We believe the best games make you laugh, make you think, and make you see the familiar in unfamiliar and original ways. Expect to get lost in vivid, strange new worlds, and to meet all kinds of quirky characters of all species, backgrounds and habitats!

Rooted in the Real

Our games start with genuine curiosity about how the world actually works: the science, the ecosystems, the creatures (humans included and welcome!), the chaos of life, and the mysteries of the universe. We dig deep into research so you don't have to, then turn what we find into experiences that feel authentic and alive. The facts are always in there. They're just way more fun than a textbook. We love to learn. We also love to live, share and have fun doing it!
