Suns of the Abyss is an open-world underwater exploration adventure set 10 miles beneath Earth's oceans and millions of years from now.
This long-forgotten world is yours to explore, experiment, and understand at your own pace and in no particular order.

Inhabit other bodies, borrow unfamiliar senses
Every creature you meet can lend you their unique senses and ways to explore their world.
Each location can be seen, heard, and touched differently, depending on whose eyes, ears, and appendages you currently wield.
Every location holds a secret, a way to restore it to its former function, that only the right combination of creatures' skills can reveal.
Real Stakes. Without danger or death.
The Lumen Fields are a playground, not an arena. Lose yourself in wondrous wandering without danger, death, or anything trying to end your run.
The stakes are real: you're actively engaged in saving the Lumen Fields.
But no violence or time pressure is necessary — just your own curiosity, wit, and experimental mind.
A world you restore and reshape
Discover, repair, and tune each biome's artificial sun to reshape the world around it: its lights, vegetation, creatures, long-dormant machines, and more!
Every adjustment ripples outward and creates new play options, turning the Lumen Fields into an ever-changing waterscape you can revisit, rediscover, and refine.
The goal is still to discover and apply life's optimal parameters... but that doesn't mean you shouldn't just wander around, experiment, and see what happens!

What Awaits You
Playable Creatures
Six creatures. Six entirely different ways to experience the Abyss. Borrow their senses, their strengths, and their strange little personalities.

Playable Creature
The Grin Whale
That giant, smiling creature a very wide angle of view, but almost no peripheral awareness, so whatever falls outside her direct gaze may as well not exist. Like an octopus, she can see polarized light, which amplifies her perception of both colors and contrasts. As a result, her world is vivid, bright and shiny. Expressive and sensitive. She hates intense light sources. She is one, after all.
The Grin Whale only hears low frequencies, the farthest spanning sonic registerShe produces plenty of them too, in the form of slow, rolling growls that travel for kilometers. Those sound waves are not released into the cold waters, though. They swirl, bounce and clash back and forth within her and in between her many sets of vocal chords
She can travel fast and far, but is formidably large. Many passages are simply not options. Completely impervious to freezing temperatures. Actively dislikes warmth.
Whatever it hits, it destroys. Whatever it cannot immediately destroy, it hits again. Not a creature that solves problems carefully.
Loves abstract expressionism: not as a hobby, but as a genuine emotional framework for understanding the world. The Abyss, to a Grin Whale, is not a place. It is a painting in progress.
